Thread: Project Sylph

  1. Project Sylph

April 5, 2006 - At Microsoft's Japanese Media Briefing in Tokyo today, Square Enix announced its collaboration with Game Arts on an arcade shooter designed exclusively for Xbox 360.

With the working title of Project Sylph, Square Enix Producer Takashi Saito showed a brief trailer and proceeded to explain a short summary of the top-level concept. Project Sylph is an arcade-style, science-fiction-based space shooter in development by Game Arts packed with drama and science fiction themes. A brief trailer was shown at the conference, but attending journalists were requested to refrain from capturing video.

In 1998, Square published the side-scrolling arcade shooter, Einhander on PlayStation, which was received with mixed results and no follow-up title.

Square Enix is expected to reveal more support at E3 this May. We'll have more then.
Here are some pics from the trailer.

On the one hand, I'm excited because I really liked Einhander. On the other hand, it's supposedly a sequel to Silpheed.

  2. Your mom has sylphilis.

  3. Way to contribute......

    Yeah. my mom contributes.....

Anyway, Einhander was one of the very best shooters of its time and I hope Square has another shooter of that caliber left in them. During the period that Einhander came out, Square was on a roll. They were pushing into other genres and were looking great. Then the PS2 came out. Silpheed on PS2 was one of the biggest dissapointments ever. I know it wasn't a Square game(Treasure, right?) but the name has definitely been tainted.
I hope they keep Einhanders no-break style. I really liked that.

  4. Einhander wasn't too bad, I just cannot get into it like other horizontal shooters (Thunderforce series). Anyway, more shooters, the merrier.

  5. Demo is out. It sucks balls.

More Factor 5 Star Wars pls.

  6. What is this, Night of the Shit We Already Know?

Let's continue to post in the other, more active thread.
