Thread: Corporate VNRs

  1. The "news" is entertainment and hasn't been journalism for a while now.

Answer: Don't let your TV think for you.

  2. So who do you trust if you can't trust the news? Blogs? No such thing as a nonpartisan blog. DailyKos? Powerline? Both are speaking to the choir (though PowerLine's hardon for Bush is extreme) and every other political site is doing this one way or the other.

Yea, "dont trust anyone", but trust is an essential element to an ordered society. When nobody trusts anyone then fear is rampant and the government and corporations take advantage of it to gain power. Sound familiar?

  3. I'm still less concerned about this than I am monitors in the grocery store assaulting me with ads and "news" about fucking Brad and Angelina. It sucks, but then, I don't have cable so I don't see the VNRs.

Did anyone see those news reports last month about pedophiles using the DS online to pick up kids? I wonder if Sony made those lols.

p.s. DS is popular among pedophiles though.
    I go with what works.

Sometimes I don't get this place. It’s like you don't care about important life altering things, and yet you will get orgasmic joy or get extremely frustrated over Princess Peach.

Yeah there isn’t a lot any of us can do about anything brought up in this thread but that is no reason to gleefully stick your head up your ass.

If and when things truly do go south in this country I imagine it will have less to do with people being evil and more to do with the average person being to damn apathetic.

  6. You think any congressman is going to stand up for journalistic standards? Probably not, they'd be put out of a job.

Television lives off money, not good intentions.

  7. This isn't really surprising.
Everytime I see tv news, especially american tv news, it scares me to think that there are people who base their world view on it.

  8. lol, rely on for profit news much? Take up a non-profit new source or 5, figure out who gives them money (ie grants, donations) and trust them except when they report on anything remotely related to their sponsers.

  9. I get all my news from Alex Jones, Art Bell and Jeff Rense.
