Thread: Out of this World enhanced

  1. Yeah, Chahi mentioned that the music changes were forced by Interplay, and he never liked them, and fought with Interplay to keep it as intact as it was.

This version seems like the definitive version, though I haven't played the 3DO one (it looked pretty nice from the screens).

I recall the 3DO version being the nicest looking version back then although I never did a side-by-side comparison or anything. I don't remember what the audio was like.

Do the SNES, Genesis, and Sega CD versions all have different music? It has been so long I don't remember but I think they varied.

The 3DO version abandoned the vector style for the backgrounds though, so it looked decidedly different, and supposedly clashed a bit with the foregrounds. It was definitely nice looking from the screens I've seen, though, but I couldn't compare it to this new one without seeing it again.

Not really. They had some decidedly different arrangements of the songs, but it was the same score.

Actually, I'm an ass. The Sega CD version did have different music, and a lot more of it. Some of it uses elements of the old music, which is why I was confused.

Damn, my saves in the remake just disappeared on me. Does anyone have the code to where you're beside a pool of water and to your right is a dead guy you dropped the green glass ball on? The codes for older versions don't work.

Thanks. It probably isn't that far into the game but my controller kind of sucks so I didn't want to replay some jumping parts.

  8. It's about halfway through the game, maybe a little more.

The reason that the old codes don't work, btw, is because there's twice as many checkpoints now, which is a subtle change that really makes the game a lot less frustrating.

  9. On one hand I wish I had actually gotten to play this when I was younger, on the other I remember trying to play my friend's copy of Flashback and I just couldn't get into it so I probably wouldn't have appreciated it anyway.

In any case I bought this and am enjoying it right now.

  10. OK, I downloaded the demo, the Magic Pictures screen comes up, some music plays, and nothing happens.

    WTF?
