It doesn't sound like you know why there is variations in species. It is perfectly valid to look for an in between as one animal evolves into two distinct looking creatures within it's own species. It isn't like dogs just gave birth to small toy dogs, mountain cats to house cats, or apes to humans.

Maybe we are apes but it isn't stupid to ask where and what the in-between looked like as we went from being nasty knuckle draggers to being able to post on the internet. It isn't like one day an Ape much like the ones at the zoo gave birth to a little human boy with 100% of the features we consider to make humans, "human."

Excellent point, but such gaps are filled every day. The amount of information that comes in to affirm the theory of evolution is staggering. sethsez was just saying that Christians tend to use this as a "final" argument that evolution is bunk, when it's really not even close to that. To use a line from good old Rummy, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

Human foreheads have gotten much larger in the last 650 years. It's not unreasonable to expect that over millions of years, we could've come from anything.
