I don't game that much on my PC... it's mostly for video stuff and obviously websites and whatnot. But once in a while i'll throw in a FPS, but there's usually little reading in those

I was playing the demos ... my retail copy of F.E.A.R. is still in the box unopened. I was also running in 1280x1024 which is the native resolution of my 19" display. Running it at 1024x768 makes things really ugly due to pixel scaling.

anything lower than 1280x1024 should have AA turned on. only 2x or 4x.
i have no idea what you meant by pixel scaling though.

I'm probably not using the correct term but for me "pixel scaling" is when you have an LCD monitor that has a set resolution (i.e. 1280x1024) but your display card pumps a different resolution to it while remaining full screen. The crispness of the displayed images becomes muddied because one "pixel" sent from the display adapter is displayed on the LCD by more than one pixel since the pixel configuration of the LCD is a constant.

Are you serious? WoW's text is huge, I have the interface scaled to something like 65% because at its max it takes up so much screen space I feel like I'm in 640x480.

I also ran FEAR at about 1024x768 and my PC is worse than yours, but I definately had a couple graphical options turned down. Not sure what besides the shadows, although I've been meaning to reinstall that and play some more anyway so I guess I'll find out.

It's usually a better resource manager to use higher resolutions instead of AA.

Have you run it on a 50" TV from 10 feet away?

WoW's text is perfectly fine on a PC (too large by default for some people) but on a TV running at 1024x768 even scaled to the max it was unreadable from my couch.
