I strongly doubt his suspension had anything to do with the marijuana and all to do with the unannounced drugs they found beside it.

This ECW is the worst shit I've ever seen. Vince really has no clue what made ECW great.
Not one ECW wrestler has won a match over a WWE-style mid-carder. Guido, Credible, Mamaluke, Snow all jobbed bigtime.
Where is the crazy in-ring action? The back and forth wrestling? Mike Knox with 4 consecutive body slams? Prototype generic WWE-style big man Test? Give me a break.
Cancel this shit now. It's a disgrace to ECW's legacy.
It won't be cancelled because it's a disgrace to ECW's legacy.
You know Vince is hard over how much he's fucking ECW over. And if his version of ECW ever gets over, he'll take all the credit for it.

He'll keep it going becuase it's making monmey and getting ratings.
No one gives a fuck about Old-School ECW anyway. If people were so adamantly against this new version it wouldn't be doing so well.
There's a lot of truth to that. Many of the old-school ECW fans have moved on. Hell, even the ECW arena did. If the new ECW fails, it's no big loss to Vince and co. since they'll have tried something that had never been done before, and at least got some new matches to add to their ECW video catalog which they can later sell to folks via DVD or 24/7.
Anyone wanting the "old" ECW in this new ECW (or any modern-day version of it like Hardcore Homecoming) is bound to hate it because you simply can't recreate the past. Even the aforementioned Hardcore Homecoming show couldn't, and that's viewed to be the closest thing to the old ECW. It had a small budget compared to anything WWE-run with the ECW name on it, but it still looked better and had higher production values than any original ECW show or PPV. There is a modern-day equivalent to what ECW was, and its name is Ring of Honor.
Lots more on the RVD/Sabu situation -It looks like Sabu being willing to take the fall might be the reason that he wasn't given a suspension.* The unidentifiable pills Sabu was busted with were in fact legally obtained perscription pills, and they were not painkillers.
* The pipe that Sabu had in his possession had never been used, and was free of any residue that could have proven incriminated.
* The Sandman and several ECW referees got caught in the same speed trap as RVD and Sabu.
* Sabu was said to be extremely fearful of losing his job after working so hard to finally get to this level, but offered to take the fall for Rob Van Dam and say everything was his because Rob has been so happy with his huge push lately. He was also incredibly gracious and cooperated in any way asked of him to the point that Vince McMahon pulled him aside, shook his hand and let him know how much he respected the way that he was handling this. McMahon also apparently insinuated to Sabu that he should not worry that this will cost him his job.

Or the fact that he had absolutely nothing illegal on him as proven by what you just quoted?

I'd say the mention of a pipe being found would contradict that a bit. While the pipe itself might not be illegal, it's doubtful he'd carry one around on the road without there being at least the intent to use it illegally.
