I looked for a job close to me, I was careful about that. Now that I am planning to move out I am going to have to be careful to find something close to my work. It was just conscious planning...Originally Posted by Mykozo
Lucky bastard. My commute is 100 miles a day round trip. Between work and going to Baltimore on occasion, I fill up twice a week, and at times I've filled up 3 times a week. Lame.Originally Posted by diffusionx

Thankfully, I get to work from home. Thus, I think right now I'm filling up about once a month. So, I guess I'm not allowed to bitch about the current gas prices.Originally Posted by diffusionx

Unfortunately, housing prices are so astronomically inflated in the DC/MD/VA metro area, that it's VERY hard to find something close to Georgetown that will cost me less than my first born to rent, and that isn't in a gang warzone. Jesus, Prince George's County, just outside of DC is averaging 9 carjackings a day. I spend more money on gas, but the savings in rent far outweigh the increased fuel consumption.Originally Posted by diffusionx

Get me a job and we can carpool. omg the savings.
It's like that everywhere. The cost of properity has doubled in the past 5/10 years. When my aunt died (a little old school teacher with a generic little house) her house was estimated to be worth 160,000. That is for a little stupid house on a stupid road between two small towns in Mississippi. That is almost double what my Dad's house (a Doctor) cost back in like 91/92.Originally Posted by Mykozo
Things are really getting bad. We just don't notice it because of cheep import goods.

This started happening around 9/11. People lost faith in the stock market and started putting their money in real estate instead. It really sucks for people trying to buy first homes when other asshats are buying second and third ones as investments.Originally Posted by IronPlant
It's not just real estate, though.
