Well, right now I am stuck on 90% in Hangar 18 thanks to the four or five back-to-back shred solos at the end of the song. Unlocking the battle axe will have to wait 'till tomorrow.

Actually, sliding around the fingerboard at any time works well, the edges of the buttons are smooth and go down easily, and it also works for hammer ons/pulloffs to just slide around.

Yeah the increased sensitivity of the frets on the new SG controller makes slides a lot easier this time around. They're especially helpful when you have to play something that makes a rapid run from G-O or vice-versa.

I wish I could cut out the metal section of that song and just play that fun chorus...OH WAIT I CAN! THANKS PRACTICE!

You should go track down the song “Weballergy” by Sonata Arctica; the chorus is composed in an almost identical melodic progression (the similarities are probably just a coincidence, but anytime I hear that chorus from the Avenged Sevenfold song, the chorus from “Weballergy” instantly pops into my head) and you won’t have to deal with any of the “New American Metal” bullshit.

Edit: Surprisingly, it turns out that “Weballergy” was in Stepmania (quite bizarre since Sonata Arctica is a relatively unknown power metal band from Finland):

But if you don’t alt-strum, it’s virtually impossible to complete this game on the expert level.

Trust me, I’d much rather play all down-strokes if it was possible, but this time around there are just too many fast parts and too many songs in the soundtrack that are meant to be alt-strummed.

What is alt-strumming? Strumming up and down from one note to the next instead of just down on every note?

WFT? Since when is alt strumming a problem? I litterally alt strum everything. Makes it feel much more like a real guitar, and is easier to keep rythmn.
