I was just pointing out a positive part of GTA, that it also entertains in non-gameplay aspects. It's not the primary reason I play the games. I never said I disliked Mercenaries. It's one of the better games of its kind.
I don't want to come off as a dick here, as there have been alot of valid points made for both GTA and M2; but if you're playing Mercs looking for personality then that's your own fault when you dislike what you find.
Also, outrunning TOW missles is far better(and more tense) than chasing down some random hip-hopster using a shitty driving engine.

I think GTA has far more varied gameplay than Mercenaries. Once you've finished the first Ace contract in Mercenaries, you've seen pretty much all of the different types of missions. GTA has different types of missions all the way through to the end. In addition, GTA (well, apart from SA) allows you much more experimentation in how you approach each mission.
No question that Mercenaries has better control, though.
GTA IV and Mercs 2 are both going to kick ass. Stop the comparative bullshit. If you must debate, make it something fresh and worthwhile, like why the Genesis kicks the shit out of the SNES.
It's true.
Run through of the first mission.
