I dl'd the english dub last week, I got the dvd today, the english dub is really, really bad.
Yes, I'm aware that 90% of the board has already watched this movie a long time ago.
This thread is for the domestic US release.
I and some friends rented it yesterday. That was the worst best thing I've ever seen. The only thing that could have made it cheesier was if Rhapsody was who they got to redo One Winged Angel.

aw shit, i take it they didn't go back and redo mouth animations for the english dialouge eh? Is the voice acting that bad as well?

No, it isn't that bad. The dubbing is as good/bad as anything else out of japan that gets dubbed.

This is no better than Dragonball Z with better fights.
I'd like to think it is infiniately better than DBZ if only because it doesn't drag fights out between 5 episodes. Oh and shoot to random places on the planet that I don't really care about in the middle of a fight.

Technical differences. In the end it's an overly dramatic and juvenile story culminating in long (although well staged, I give this movie its due for putting out some great action sequences), drawn out battles riddled with sloganeering and posturing. I love the 'EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE OKAY' looking up at the sun Cloud does before being shot through the chest in a melodramatic sequence befitting of any poorly conceived anime. I didn't completely hate it, but it's unmistakingly Hong Kong material at best. I think the scene with Kadaj holding the container and toiling over mother was one of the most cringe-worthy bad acting moments, and has to be one of the worst things to put on a resume since Anne Sellors' only screen portrayal of a woman urinating herself (She has one of the most impressive resume's in all of movies).
The best thing about it was Behemoth's character design and fireballs.

The movie is pure cheese. Like I said in my first post, its the most awesome worst movie I've ever seen.
my big complaint is Tifa's Boobs, or her lack of them.

Of course, I've never played through FF7 in the first place...
