Thread: Culdcept Saga

  1. A two-hour argument? Damn. Smack that bitch up and play some Culdcept!

  2. I got this in the mail today.

    Probably wont play until weekend

  3. I played the earth bitch, and it was a pretty exciting see-saw battle; I eventually won. Then I played the fire dick. I almost threw my controller (which I NEVER do) I was getting so pissed when he'd just HAPPEN to get three perfect rolls/cards in a row and destroy my face. I managed to make a comeback, but in the end he won.
That battle took 2 1/2 hours.
That is the only part of this game I really don't like.

  4. It's funny to read people's experiences with Story Mode. I lost four times on Coliseum III but breezed through every battle since (I'm at Mt. Eturna now). A lot of it has to do with plain-old luck, as much as we'd like to claim otherwise.

Anyone looking for a game should send me a message/invite. I'm online just about every night.

  5. I'm on the air route (don't remember the names of the places) right now. Beat water and forest yesterday. It wasn't too bad as a good amount of my monsters were blue and green (which is why I chose them first). The forest didn't give me any trouble at all though, everything went my way. I had a lot of fun in the water stage because I summoned some monster on the field that makes everyone draw 2 every turn, makes everything feel speedier.

Is it a glitch if the book resets and you draw monsters still in play? I only have one Tengu card in my book who was already on the field, book resets, and I drew another one. Not used to that when playing card games.

  6. Nope. Once you draw the last card, the game basically cracks open another copy of your deck as it was at the start of the match. I'll hopefully be around for some matches tonight around 9:00PM EST.

  7. Useful Card Grinding Trick!

    1) Create a deck comprised of the following:

    - Die-altering spells to pad your rolls like Haste, Float, Holy Word 8, Holy Word 6, etc.
    - Creatures with 0 magic cost such as Goblin and Giant Rat.
    - Creatures with Immediate ability (Herald Spirit, Sakuya, Barbarian)
    - Fill whatever room you have left with cheap creatures without land limit or prerequisites.

    2) Select Versus from the title screen. Set the match type from Standard to Custom. A few boxes down, set the minimum goal to 1,000.

    3) Select a map with a card pool of your preference (more on this later).

    4) Another rule-setting screen. Set the goal down to 1,000 again.

    5) Now you're at the Versus screen, which is basically the online lobby with a few different options. Load your cepter into the first slot and select "Virtual Cepter" for the second. You'll be playing as both of them with the same controller.

    6) Virtual Cepter creation screen. Don't worry about customizing it, the game is going to purge it after you leave Versus Mode, anyway. Just name it "a" and move on.

    7) Close the match. Select the deck you just made for both your Cepter and the Virtual Cepter.

    8) Begin the match. Have the Virtual Cepter do nothing aside from cast his die-altering spells on you. Have your Cepter drop a creature at every opportunity, leveling the creatures with Immediate on the same turn. The match will be over in one lap, two tops.

It sounds like more work than it is. Aside from building the initial deck, the entire process only takes about three minutes and will net you 9+ cards depending on the map. After a match, the game brings you right back to the versus screen with both characters already loaded, so you won't even have to create the Virtual Cepter more than once per session.

Is it fun? No. But neither is my fucking xbox freezing two and a half hours into a Story Mode match.

It's also worth noting that the trick can't replace Story Mode, it can only supplement it. Maps don't become available in Versus until you clear them in Story, and every map has its own distinct pool of cards -- it's impossible to collect every card in the game without clearing Story Mode.

  8. I've been having so-so luck finding online matches and time during the week, so I've been playing story mode. Beat the Water wench and the air asshole no problem. Got beat once by the forest femme.

I got into an interesting match a few hours ago; One guy had a pretty basic deck that dominated the first 40 rounds. He didn't really have any heavy hitters or long term cards like Aspirdokarone (sp?), Storm or Magma armor or Gauda, so he went from 1st to 3rd, stayed there, and got spanked like a little bitch while the other 2 of us beat him.

I can see if you play matches that last >40 rounds you really have to set your deck up differently or else you'll get pwn'd.

  9. Played an interesting game just now. This guy had this card that summoned goblins for free and recycled, so you could build an army of goblins easy. Goblins? I thought to myself... This guy's an idiot.. Goblins are weak as shit. So a few matches later, someone fights one. +20 hp & ST, +20 HP, +20 HP. WTF? Where is he getting these bonuses? He was using poseiden, who gave +20 to any defending people.. Ok. Then I notice he had Red Cap on the board, which gives +20HP + ST to any goblins on the map for him. On top of that, red cap gets +HP for every goblin on the map for him. On top of that, he laid an idol where you can't target people with any spells, so that means no bolts or dragon attacks. I tried to take out the idol, but he had a shitload of reflect amulets or whatever. Even if I could have managed to take out his red cap, he had 2 more! Wow!

The other people playing spammed the card that gives you 80G and recycles and the find card.

    What a night!:lol

  10. Been neglecting this for Apollo Justice. I stopped after I beat whatever that Empire's place name was II (after beating all 4 elemental places). Should be getting back into the grind tomorrow or the day after as I'm in the last case right now in Apollo now.
