Movie Theater Assholes

Alright, we've all had to deal with it, those assholes who feel the need to talk, leave their cellphones on (and talk on said cellphones), kick the back of your seat, and bring crying infants to the movies. My question is how do you deal with it? Do you try to focus on the movie and ignore it? Do you create a scene and flip out, or walk out and leave?

This was on my mind today because I went to see Silent Hill yesterday with a group of friends. Right after the scene where Sharon almost jumps off the cliff a group of rich looking Brazilian pricks walks in and start yelling in Spanish across the movie theater. They knew where their friends were sitting but still felt the need to yell. I dont speak Spanish so had no idea what they were saying. And of course they sat right behind us.

Basically, throughout the movie they would not shut the fuck up. They would comment on everything, and laugh non-stop.

So by about the time Rose and Sharon got to Silent Hill, they STILL were talking. This was after an usher walked in and out and did nothing. I mean the dialogue in the movie was horrible,granted, but if I had comments I would lean in and whisper them to my friends not yell them out. So I turned around and said. "Listen can you please just shut the hell up? If I wanted a running commentary, I'd wait to see the DVD?". They did the "OOOOOOO, big man, you shut the fuck up punk," lines and what only I can assume cursed at me in Spanish. We talked shit back and forth, the rest of the audience not helping my cause (a lot of them looking at ME and going SHHHHHHH!)

Then I didnt know what to do. Do I take this furthur, insult and fight these guys (2 of which were big guys and could kill me in a fight most likely), keep talking shit and try to ignore them and ruin the movie for myself also, or just leave? Option was taken away from me as two of the girls I was with just got up and pulled me with them. We waited to talk to a manager who never showed up,were given some coupons for some free showings, then just said fuck it and left. Another couple walked while we were leaving and werent so happy either.

This was my worst experience with this shit ever, so far.

Like I said, how do you guys handle this? What are our options? Can ushers and managers just force obnoxious movie goers to leave? If so I've never seen it, but I think it should be so.

This is just a disturbing trend for theater behavior as there are a couple of movies over the summer I want to see, but not with this general assholery going on.

Its gotten bad. As I said in the Silent Hill thread. The lady next to me kept checking her cell phone. Her bright ass Blue display ruined my experiance. Worst part was she kept checking it when the scene went black. Its not like she had a flip phone ... oh no it was those candybar types. And their b/f's were sitting in front of them laughing, joking, and shit. Was it loud. No not really, but the laughter was.

What you can do is ... about nothing. You can talk to the manager and thats about it. Its mainly the theaters responsibility to handle assholes and shit. The cell phone thing ... they do have a right to confiscate, but they tend to just display the "Be kind and turn off cell phones." thing.

Me personally if I was in your shoes. I would have gotten the free tickets. Left and saw another movie during the daytime, Like 10am. Most a-holes wake up after the noontime or 4pm. I never see a movie at premiere and if I do I see it with a group of friends 5 or more. If alone I see it during hours of no crowds ... Weekdays 10am - 3pm. Weekends 9pm showings.

I was leaning more towards the start some shit route as the guy behind me started to kick my chair. If there's one thing I learned in elementary school theres only one way to deal with a bully. I was taking my watch off and giving my wallet to a friend ( I think that's when she was like 'Oh shit' and got us up), my large icee on the guy behind me's face would have been the opening salvo.

I felt like a pussy leaving and letting them "win" this thing and its been annoying me ever since.

Simple. I tell them to STFU/turn off their cell. They do.

Still, I remember one time a while back. These black girls in the back of the theater were really loud, and would start talking shit to anyone who took exception to their antics. They just didn't seem to understand that you don't be talkin' in da moviez. The theater finally had cops drag them out, it was fucking great. The theater clapped and the one bitch was all like, "FUCK Y'ALL WHITE ASSES!"

I'm five foot seven and 165 pounds. I am no where near imposing, but it works.

That's not that bad, and not offensive. It's when people are overtly annoying and ruining the movie for everyone when it becomes a problem.

However, if you can't scare peons into doing your will, just complain to the manager. I've seen it get results for people.
