Thread: Assassin's Creed

  1. Is there a way to assassinate with the hidden blade while jumping or falling? I remember at the beginning of the game there was that high profile 'jump on the back' assassination you could do, but it seems like there should be more. Maybe its a skill learned later on? Because Ive jumped behind at least two templars, hidden blade equipped, Left trigger locked, and seem to never get the 'X' button assassination prompt and it always ends up coming down to a surprise swordfight.

This game looks real good though. Coming over that hill above Damascus the first time was a pretty 'wow' moment.

  2. The jump assassination is done while you're running. Locking on first, charge 'em with the hidden blade equipped and then hit x.

If you're within range, you'll pounce. For a few of the main assassinations I snuck around behind them, climbed down the wall to get close enough and then locked on to them. Hold R Trigger, hit X and you'll jump off the wall and drop 'em. I don't think you can do it if you fall/jump off a roof.

I took a thing that looked like a glowing pen from the doctor in the last half of the game. Is there a use for it? And does the game seriously end with you standing in the lab? I walked around for 10 minutes trying to do anything before I just quit. The story wraps up (for the most part) and I got the "beat AC" achievement so I guess that's it. Really weird way to end a game.

Edit: Just found out I need to use the access code in my room to get the last bit. I swear it wouldn't let me do anything in there though.
The woman's pen is for her computer, the doctor's pen is for his computer. Be sure to check all of their mail (inbox, outbox, and trash) to get the access codes to both the conference room and to the laptop inside there. As for ending the game, you make the credits roll by using eagle vision on the wall inside your room. If you notice you can use the vision anywhere in the room and there's riddles all over the walls, if you want some answers on what they all mean I can tell you.

  4. Thanks, I did all that after I edited all that. There's a great article on CVG giving all the details on the historical elements of the ending. Most of the special stuff at the end has been decoded, pretty wild shit. Can't wait for the sequel.

  5. So I picked this up yesterday and don't really have anything new to add to what's already been said, but I did get the dreaded "White screen of death" today.

Seriously, wtf is up with all these problems this generation? After returning my RROD 360 a few weeks ago, I picked up a 60gb PS3, since then, I've picked up Uncharted, COD4 and Assassin's Creed.

Uncharted hasn't given me any problems, but I can't play COD4 online because after 10 min or so it completely turns off my PS3 (I'm talking about completely, it wont even go into standby) and today I get the WSOD during AC.

I'm 99% sure it's not an overheating problem, but I'm at a loss for words on all of these issues.

Thanks Rumpy, Ill try this later. Sucks that you cant do a well timed ninja jump from a roof and just land on/kill an enemy. I guess that would make some kills a little too easy though...

  7. Actually you can assassinate people from high places like rooftops, just not TOO high up. Done it plenty of times. Practice on anybody in the city and you're get it. If you target them and either Assassinate towards them or Jump->Assassinate towards them it should work.

  8. Fuck this game. I can't even finish the march towards the last area(the one southeast of Acre) due to some kind of massively huge bug that continually "gives me the honor" of falling through the game.

Now that wouldn't be a big deal, but after I die...I respawn with TWO OF ME. Both can be controlled by my one controller, as all inputs are mimicked. Attack to much? Fall through game. Go to fast on horse? Fall through game. Fight with yourself? Freeze game. Stealth kill/counter kill? Camera warps to the 'other you'. Go really fast on horse? Pass through "memory blockade" and have fun walking around being hit by invisible soldiers(while doing damage to you, which doesn't involve the "im hit" animation either).

And yes, you can assassinate yourself...and accidentally fight yourself in combat with bad guys(and in turn, accidentally counter yourself/grab yourself/grab counter yourself/throw daggers at yourself; all which do damage).

Been dealing with this for an hour now(rebooted the game, the system, etc multiple times) and it just won't stop happening. So...expect a video of this by the end of the night as my final "fuck off" to Ubisoft's shitty group of Quality Assurance testers.

  9. I think I'm liking this game a lot more than I should. It's pretty much a next gen looking game with last gen gameplay....but whatever.

I think my favorite part of the game is the combat. They could have turned this into a God of War button masher really, really easily. I mean, there are soooo many GOW combat emulations in games now. But instead, the combat in this game is based on timing and skill. I love it. It's slower paced and more thoughtful and satisfying. And it looks fucking sweet as hell.

I also like how they do the cutscenes in this game. Really kind of unique. Especially the cut scenes before every assasination.

I wish the voice acting of Altair was better though. Everyone else is excellent, I don't know why he isn't, or why whoever was in charge of the voice acting didn't see that and fix it.
