Thread: Louis Rukeyser dies

  1. Louis Rukeyser dies

HARTFORD, Conn. - Louis Rukeyser, a best-selling author, columnist, lecturer and television host who delivered pun-filled, commonsense commentary on complicated business and economic news, died Tuesday. He was 73.

Rukeyser died at his home in Greenwich after a long battle with multiple myeloma, a rare bone marrow cancer, said his brother, Bud Rukeyser.

As host of “Wall $treet Week With Louis Rukeyser” on public TV from 1970 until 2002, Rukeyser took a wry approach to the ups and downs in the marketplace and urged guests to avoid jargon. He brought finance and economics to ordinary viewers and investors, and was rewarded with the largest audience in the history of financial journalism.
My dad watched WSW religiously on Friday nights as I was growing up, and I watched with him sometimes. I really liked this guy, he put a fun and uncomplicated look on money matters.

Same with me. My dad watched every week. Then a year or two ago Rukeyser was supposed to take a month off for some operation. I don't believe they ever said what it was, but they just kept pushing back his return date further and further. It was obvious something was up. There will be a lot of sad people out there, but i doubt there are many on this forum. His show was boring as hell.

The only people who say that don't watch him. It's horrible.
