Thread: Holy crap - original Star Wars on DVD!

  1. I'm surprised Yoshi hasn't exploded in this thread yet.

Spoke too soon... although it wasn't at the explosion level I initially estimated.

  2. Wow. Finally.

Wrong, George wins. If he didn't want this out it wouldn't happen.

I'm sure he's not doing this to appease his many loyal fans, he's doing this to make even more money by selling people the same movie all over again. If anything, he's a hypocrite because he swore the threatrical versions of the original trilogy were dead to him and would never be released. The dollar rules all.

Then again, maybe Lucas finally pulled his head from his ass and decided to throw his fans, who made him enough money that he could start a real-life Empire if he wanted, a bone.

Same here. If these weren't released, I never would have owned the original trilogy in digital format.

I bet it'll just be the same extras that came with the SE DVDs. Shit, I bet that disc one will be the SE version and disc 2 will be the original version and they'll be no extras at all.

This is great for us but it's a total cash run for Lucas.

Berringer money spent on OT DVDs = 0

    Probably won't buy these, either.
I'm not a devious man by nature... but when you're unarmed, your tactics might gonna be downright Archimedean.

  5. I'll stick with my LD's and George can kiss my fucking ass.

  6. Hooray @ me for not buying the shitty revamped DVDs.

    As for me....
    BEST DVD NEWS EVARRRRR!!!

    Must. Preorder. Now!!!!
I know I'm a hypocrite when it comes to the fact that I want something "original" in terms of widescreen, but also want it in surround sound. I think for a movie like this it makes sense, but say it's an old comedy or something like that, then I'm cool with it. I was under the impression that the LDs had 5.1, so it's not like they don't exist.

I understand that it wasn't shot in surround sound, but as I said, surround tracks exist, so it's not like it'll be hard to include them on a DVD.

And for the record, anything can be in 1080p, it's just a matter of if it'll look any better for it hehe

I was under the impression it was just the "updated special effects" version only on DVD as well.
