the $500 units can play bluray movies, just not at 1080p.
For that matter, the $500 machines won't be able to output games in 1080p over component video. For sony to be touting the "full hd resolution" claim, you think they would back it up by making it possible on all ps3s. I guess it is possible they could come out with an accessory dvi cable.

Yes, it's not like they didn't all but declare 360 as "ugly" and a failure last year when all Sony had at their conference was tech demos.And I'm now waiting for Hsu to use his new self proclaimed "pull no punches standard" in an interview with Phil Harrison like he did with Peter Moore.

The MTV show was horrible, and the 360's press conference was ass. Sounds about fair to me. They totally bombed at E3 last year.
I'm sure EGM will present both the good (a couple of good-looking titles, strong hardware) and bad (a lot of filler crap, ridiculous price) in their write-up.
