Thread: Super Paper Mario

  1. By the time this comes out there will be no GC section in EBgames or other stores. In local shops around here all GC related items have been moved to an unnamed shelf in the back.

  2. When Nintendo decided to launch Zelda at the Wii launch this Spring, wasn't there an email sent by EB to people with pre-orders (retracted shortly thereafter) that the game was delayed until October 17? I thought I read that many months ago.... Maybe that's the Wii launch date.
    No gnus is good gnus.

I say Stage Debut is never coming out because it's been in development since 1997 when it was originally a 64DD title. I could be wrong, but if a title was in development for that long why would you drop it on a system that is very likely to be completely dead by that point? If it does come out, I would imagine it would be for Wii where something like Stage Debut could really shine and take advantage of the machine.
Then again, stranger things have happened; and chances are I'm not going to spend fourty bucks on it unless I'm really impressed with it since what I saw running on the 64DD almost ten years ago.

So, back on subject, Nintendo.com says Super Paper Mario on October 9, 2006. Woot.

  4. I thought this was interesting-

"This application will let you transfer your face into GameCube software with the GameEye, a camera peripheral for the Game Boy Advance."

    What?

Anyway, has that been up for a long time? I never noticed it before.

    NOA Page
Shows here October 9th. I trust them a million times more than I trust EB-fucking-games, so I hope this is true.
EB-fucking-games is pretty reliable though. Think about it. They just want to sell products. They have no reason to lie and deliberately push back a release date. Meanwhile, Nintendo's official website is propaganda. If news is bad for them they will not emphasize it, exactly.

A date of 1/1 is applied to games where they don't know a release date. For the longest time, in March or April Duke Nukem Forever and TF2 were pushed back to 1/1 of the following year. And then in the fall they got pushed to October or whatever.

If I had to guess, EB received information, probably from distributors (who get their information from Nintendo, at some point through the chain), that SPM isnt gonna be on shelves in October.

edit: this happened with RE4 PC recently. The official Ubi site said late March, all through March. Amazon and some other sites said October. Is RE4 PC on the shelves now?

  6. I don't understand why people get so hung up on release dates. Both EB/Nintendo are guessing. I wish all game companies do not rush game releases for the 4th quarter and instead do what Bungie/Blizzard/other good developers do, release when they feel that it is done.

So whether it is 10/9 or 1/1/07, just get it when it is released.

  7. Nintendo has never stolen $170 dollars out of my paycheck and then deny me of being able to see any paper work I may or may not have signed which would have given them the right to do so. EB is/was run by a group of moronic fuck heads who, literally, know nothing. EB does want to make money, but so does Nintendo. Besides, NOA's release dates are usually pretty solid. I don't recall ever seeing them put a date that wasn't true or wasn't what they were planning.

    No relevance.

  9. They should just put this on Wii now too. It's not going to hurt them, GC is dead anyway. It'd be kind of fitting actually, since the virtual console is positioning Wii to be an old school style console. They'd have a game that blends old school and new school.

As much as i hate calling things old school and new school i couldn't think of another way to describe it. Sorry.

  10. They should put you on Wii.
