:O
I love that screenshot because it totally reminds me of what I pictured a 3d Mario game would be like back in the '80s, i.e. using 2d sprites that scaled. Back then I didn't anticipate polygons like we have them today.
:O
Why did Nintendo wait so long to make good Mario games?

slurp. My gaming future lies in Nintendo's hands
Looks...so...good...
Now if we can just get a release date. I can't seem to find one anywhere.
What a tremendous amount of Mario goodness in a short period of time. I can hardly stand RPG's anymore but the Paper Mario games are just too fun to not enjoy. Glad they ditched the archaic turn based battle system and focused on platforming.
This isn't an RPG at all, nor a continuation of the Paper Mario series. They're just using the paper mario visual style.
I like the idea of multiple routes but it looks like there's about 13 different planes you could play that level on. Won't switching between planes break the flow of the game?Originally Posted by epmode
I think theres only one 2D plane, and the 3D plane is used for puzzles, getting around obstacles, etc. I think a good design would allow you to play the whole damn thing in either plane, and your creativity decides which to use.
