Thread: Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops

  1. I'm glad to see this is getting good reviews. Can't wait to try out the online mode.

lol You can buy my season 5 smallville. Amazon is shipping my HD copy to me and I'll have it tomorrow.

  6. this game == that bomb shit

I picked up three soldiers between classes today. If only I could get online and throw 'em out there. =/

  7. Put a few hours into this yesterday... pretty cool, but I can't help but think that it really would have benefitted from having the fixed overhead camera every Metal Gear game used up until Subsistence (and even then, it was still an option). Having to control the camera with the d-pad = suck.

Quicker character switching would have been nice, too.

  8. Agreed.... It is hard to sneak around when I am constantly adjusting the camera and using the first person view. Slow the game down to a crawl but still enjoyable. I hate the stamina loss in the game, and learning about recruiting soldiers and such.

  9. Yeah... the stamina's definitely a pain, especially since rations recover so little. I smuggled a nurse out of the hospital stage (she hasn't been "converted" yet, though), I'm guessing putting them on the med team will help slow stamina depletion or recover some in between missions.

Although now that I have enough recruits to rotate around, it shouldn't be as big a problem. Seems that they recover when removed from the active team.

  10. I have a boatload of soldiers, many of which are Nutritionists and on the med team, so Stamina's not a problem.

The camera definitely took getting used to, though. The only time it really still bothers me is when I'm trying to fit in while holding a weapon, which causes L to both recenter the camera and hold up my gun.

Also, "invert settings between third and first person" or whatever actually just makes you able to both move and first-person aim with the analog. Should've been the default option, I think.
