The concept interests me. I <3 WWII weapons.

  2. I saw GoW on G4 and the creator was playing it. My god Im more hyped for that game.
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

"We asked a Resistance developer what made his game unique. He stared at us blankly for a moment, fumbling for an answer, and then he told us that we would have to figure that out for ourselves. Not a good sign.

What we figured out were a number of winding hallways, stretching through an abandoned medical facility. Every few feet alien creatures would appear. Sometimes they attacked, and sometimes they just stood around. Either way, we filled them with hot lead and continued on. Rinse. And repeat."

There are no rules, only consequences.

  4. I thought this and war hawks looked like the best ps3 games I got to see. Maybe it's just me but those small aliens crawling about look a lot like mutated face huggers. I didn't know it was supposed to be set in the 1950s, really doesn't look it. If I could afford a ps3 I would pick this and war hawks up but since I can't, I'll file that under "oh well" and call it a day.

  5. It still looks intresting to me, I hope theres going to be a PC port, but I think this would make an awsome movie then a game.
    Go 2 H3LL

  6. The game artistically and graphically definately looks great, but from what I've seen of people playing the game, the gameplay just looks like another shoot em up alien FPS. Unless they do something awesome with the AI, I have a feeling that won't change.

  7. There's been some major shit going around the web on this game the last week or two. I went from not even slightly giving a fuck to being pretty damn hyped. This is obviously Sony's rip on Halo, but I think they've got a winner here. This is the game they're going to be riding hard at launch.

    40 player online.

Insomniac are going crazy on the textures and effects, the game's at 22 gigs and growing (only 1 gig is audio). Not having to compress textures or audio = fuck yes, thank you blu ray.

    Two player co-op.

It uses the controller's tilt functionality - enemies will latch onto you, shake them off by shaking the controller. Gimmicky, but hey, whatever. Melee attacks/rifle butts are handled either by button press, or by snapping the right side of the controller forward - if you've ever tried to circle strafe and melee attack in Halo at the same time, you know how awesome that feature is - new standard, imo.

Insomniac's bring the same approach to weapons as they did in R&C - there's some crazy stuff here:

He and Phillips did a developer cheat, nearly freezing the game world as they had Hale launch a bomb called the "hedgehog" — which is like a sea urchin — radiating 50 spikes. With the game slowed and the hedgehog gliding through the battlefield, Schneider talked about each of the 50 connected spikes probing the game world with their own artificial intelligence, assessing where they're about to make contact with the game's environment, when to ricochet and where to go. He pointed to enemies reacting with smooth, retreating animations. He noted the metal-on-metal ping as the hedgehog hit steel and said a different sound would have triggered if it tapped wood. He showed how the hedgehog figured out when to suddenly extend its spikes into a waist-high obstacle and erupt toward nearby enemies.
They're supposedly going nuts on the sound too:

Resistance has fully simulated sound waves. The system actually checks distances, atmospheric density, wind, what materials the sound is bouncing off and passing through, etc, and modifies the base sound accordingly. Hence, every sound travels through space in real time and distorts just as it does in the real world. There is also support for 5.1, 6.1, and 7.1 sound setups.
^^ I don't care if Sony ate your children, that's fucking badass. Forget waggle wands - as nice as full spacial control is, multi-thread processing is the real boon of the next gen. Wait to see what kind of insane shit 360 and PS3 devs are going pull off in the next few years.

Graphics have definitely been kicked up since E3, they've added lightsourcing and filters now (click for full size):
