Tucker Becomes Highest-Paid Actor, Says Report

New Line has agreed to pay Chris Tucker $25 million to appear in Rush Hour 3, making him the highest-paid actor in Hollywood, according to FoxNews.com's Roger Friedman. Friedman commented that the figure is all the more remarkable considering the fact that Tucker has starred in only two other films -- both of them the Rush Hour movies. Friedman observed that Rush Hour 2 holds the record for the highest gross of any comedy and that the total worldwide take for the first two films is about $600 million. Both the previous Rush Hour also star Jackie Chan alongside Tucker.

Guess it pays to be lazy and only work 3 times in 9 years.

He's starred in more then two movies...what about The Fifth Element and Friday? That's just off the top of my head.

It's still an awful lot of money to be paid but like it says, they were high grossing movies and I think he's pretty funny.

I thought the same thing too. I think they meant "starred in a lead role".

Well, even still, his role in those two movies were strong supporting roles and he was as much of a main character in Friday as Ice Cube was, the movie wasn't about him but neither is Rush Hour, directly anyhow.

Chris Tucker may be getting a huge salary for Rush Hour 3, but he's still not the "highest paid" actor in Hollywood.

Most big stars get "back end" deals that entitle them to as much as 30% of gross earnings, before the studio takes its profit. In this way Tom Cruise received $100+ million for War of the Worlds.

The back end points bonus is on it's way out now. Hollywood is trying to curb the completely outragous payoffs for big stars.

I think they were just talking "guaranteed money up front." But like I already pointed out, Arnold actually holds that crown.

Those back-end deals a lot of the big actors have can make them so much money it's not even funny. With the movie business in the slump it's been in, I'm sure you'll see less and less of that bullshit. These "big" stars and their stupid salary demands just aren't worth all the dough.
