Thanks to Toys R Us' deal on this, I'm in for a preorder. If it's even close to Mario 64, I'll be both surprised and elated.

I'm expecting this to eclipse both 64 and Sunshine. An on-par release would be a disappointment, but I don't think I'll be disappointed. One benefit that seems to have come from the simplistic Wii controls is that this game looks to completely emphasize pure platforming.

As this kind of development continues, I think people will greet Super Mario Galaxy with a sense of relief. Up to now, there have been a lot of games that were compilations of mini-games, and I think this will be seen as the first title in a long time where you can really sit down and get absorbed in it.

At least they can admit it. Now if they can just do something about it beyond the occasional Metroid/Mario game there might be something more worth playing.

I went to TRU and they weren't taking preorders, though they did have the gift card offer. They get it in stock on Tuesday at 5 p.m., so I'll be heading there after work.

Whaaaaat? If this is true you have some impossibly high standards. There are like 8 games coming out this month alone that are worthy of console purchases.
