This link is for TNL peeps only, please. It's on my personal space and I don't have the bandwidth to share with the Internets.

Wow, I couldn't disagree more. There were certain levels in this game where half of the joy of playing the game was due to how well the music fit the levels. This game seriously had parts that nearly brought tears to my eyes they were so fun, and a big part of that was due to the soundtrack. I hope nintendo gets a hint and starts orchestrating all of their major releases, especially the Zelda franchise.
Just downloaded the soundtrack off of you, MarkRyan. Thanks a ton for putting that up here for us.

wow, thanks mark!
PS - I think I get where Thief is going with this though. He just feels music in the original SMB is more memorable for whatever reason. Back then games relied on catchy tunes because they were simple and short and therefore had to be. It might be that subconsciously we remembered those tracks so well because we'd hear them for hours straight. The deep, diverse, complicated orchestrated music in Galaxy makes it harder to memorize, so less...memorable?
The music in Galaxy is wonderful, but I could see how it's harder to remember it.

This is by far the most awesome Mario game I've played. The soundtrack is worth buying, whenever it comes out.
I've gotten Luigi. He's very slippery but fast and a high jumper. Luigi's Purple coins was a killer for me as Luigi since he's so slippery to the point where he's uncontrollable when you do long jumps.
I don't really mind that the music isn't memorable to me, I don't find myself humming or really like finding it to be special, worst part is I think I should it's like "Wow this is fully orchestrated and I don't really feel passionate towards it".
Also, Purple coins are terrible, it's no fun at all doing any of the purple comet quests so what, 20 stars are going to be miserable? Maybe if it was remotely like assassin's creed which is one of the few games I found did collection things quickly, IE, lay a path that reveals tiny nuances about how you can move through the game so that instead of spending 2 hours trying to find that last fucking coin in the freezeflame galaxy I can actually just practice until I can breeze through a level using quick little jumps when needed that I wouldn't have thought as before. Instead find these 100 coins, don't overlook them, they're usually in groups so when you find them hurray, but that's boring.
There's only one purple coin challenge I hated (the one where you use the pull stars and swing around in a pen). Otherwise, I think they were good challenges that were at times frustrating but generally satisfying. Would've been nice if they were sprinkled more evenly throughout the game, though. Stacking them at the end is kind of a pain, though that's what I get for not beating the game until I had as many stars as I could get.
Also, I can't believe you just favorable compared Assassin's Creed to Galaxy. For shame.
