It is interesting that Ebert agrees with my thoughts on the book.... that the beginning IS the end (which really makes the whole point of the book, moot). But I still want to see this movie because of some very good actors (Hanks, McKellan, Reno). But I might just wait for the DVD, I rather spend $$ on X3.
The A&D praise baffles me. I found the book to be basically the same as DaVinci Code, but longer, with more filling, worse characters, a more plodding story, and the most drawn-out, ridiculous climax and conclusion ever. For all the heat DaVinci Code gets about being a crappy book, it's noticeably better than A&D and Dan Brown deserves at least some credit for improving as a writer between books.Originally Posted by ElCapitan
edit: and Im no literary elitist... as you can see in my profile my favorite book is Memoirs of a Geisha... A&D is just bad.

15% at Rotten Tomatoes and there are quite a few reviews there. Eek.
Except not really eek, because who cares. I'll probably go see it with my mom and hopefully enjoy it.
And Audrey Tautou is hot.
Are people still using Rotten Tomatoes as a basis to see a movie? Especially something as contraversial as this movie? There is no way I'd trust anything other than my own opinion. Movies like this make people angry BEFORE they even see it. I'm not saying it's going to be amazing but people expect the wrong things out of these movies. Most if not every reviewer on RT is so biased it isn't funny. What happened to open minded, unbiased reviewers? Maybe I'm dreaming but I'd love people to go into every movie with an open mind and try to enjoy it because that's what movies are made for.
People aren't saying it's offensive, they're saying it's boring. Considering this was directed by Ron Howard I see no reason to think they're lying.
It isn't at all. She recommends books with "important" messages and prefers character driven stories. This is a cheesy airport thriller.Originally Posted by YellerDog
