Thread: Monster Hunter Freedom

i just noticed that you were talking about freedom and not freedom 2. but i do belive you can port freedom items and gear into unite also.

Unite is just Freedom 2G, so I think you can bring your dude from one to the other intact.

From Freedom to Unite I think I keep all my zenny and anything under rank 4; the rest gets converted into tickets or something. I'll find out soon enough! Can't wait to have a cat helper, that sounds rad.

The cat is awesome and a pain at the same time. depending on the cat, it will get in your way, like throwing bombs at the wyvern, in the exact spot that you are at. But the cat is also great as the wyvern will almost always attack the cat first, before attacking you. so its a great distraction. especially for setting up traps and what not.

I really wish i could get my zdlan/xlink kai working. i would love to go on a few missions with you. As it is i have to solo everything. its fun, but not nearly as fun as when you have friends.

I have about 500hours into unite/2G. i actually had my 2G save converted into a unite save so i didn't have to start over.

  4. Ugh, Monster Hunter. The series garners such love/hate feelings in my soul. I could write pages about everything it does right... and wrong.

I am impressed you were able to weather the first game's load times. They are out of control. 50 of your 250 hours have been spent in them.

I kept buying these -- Freedom 2, then Unite -- and had phases where I got *really* into them... but the suck kept outweighing the awesome in the end. So I never stuck with any of them past HR2. I also desperately wanted some OCD-ish way to track all the armor and collectables. Grids and checklists mayhap? I don't like having to consult some fan-made Wiki just to see the craftable weapons. Also, I couldn't get past the font. It made me rage.

I will probably buy The Third at some point to continue the cycle of insanity. I wish I was as patient as you.

How are you guys planning on getting around the language barrier if you import 3rd? Every single one of the thousands of items, bugs, ore and shit is in crazy moon language.

  7. There's a full English patch made by fans, though that would also require a game download of dubious nature.

I wish they would release the HD update for PS3 in English, I'd play that.

Same way i got around it in MHP2G when i got that. i just worked around it. i just gathered EVERYTHING and eventually i would get what i needed. also everything in your storage is set up according to monster/type. so if im trying to make a purple hammer, i would assume that i needed them from the harder G rank quests and that usually did it. Also minegarde.com has a entire list of the items in english and japanese. so in case i couldnt figure it out, i did it that way. Honeslty the only reason i got unite when i had 2G for a year was i wanted to know the weapons name.

I had been putting it off because it is scary, but I decided to do my last Elder mission last night: Wyverns of Land and Sky. It's a gold Rathian and a silver Rathalos together, no items, Final Destination aka the Arena. A Rathian is a Rathian, they're all easy, but the stupid silver Rathalos acts like the Azure Rathalos. He's constantly flying around shooting fireballs and doing his poison dive-bomb bullshit.

I was wearing my wind resist HR1 Diablos Mail and used the Thundertip. Set foot inside the place and got destroyed very quickly. Picked up on the flow of the fight and managed to beat the Rathian but ran out of time before I could kill the Rathalos (50 min time limit, that is a lot of time running around like an asshole). Third try I destroyed the Rathian very quickly (15 mins) and had forever to torture that son of a silver bitch with all the flash bombs and traps I hadn't even used yet. It helped a lot to use the gold wyvern to block the silver one's attacks. Blocking the poison dive is a must, getting hit by that almost guarantees your death. It was awesome. Victory brings the materials for the Shining Wyvern Blade which is probably the highest raw damage sns (sword and shield for noobs). Good times.

Also finished off the quests in HR3, just need to clean up the stragglers in HR4 and 5 before I'm done. The last big challenge will be the Crimson Fatalis, haven't even looked at that dude yet.

Sns is far and away the best weapon type in MHF, but I've also made a few hammers and great swords because they're cool. What should I be going for when I start MH2/FU?

Monster Hunter FU is such an appropriate acronym.

    well.....

I personally prefer Duel Swords and Hammers and bows. i love hammers. Knocking out a monster with a hammer and getting free head shots its the best.
I would say go for what you like as far as weapons.

As for armor, for the screamers get high grade ear plug. anything else just couple it with your weapon choice. Running is great for duel swords and hammers.
quick charge is good for great sword.def and def up is awesome for Lance/Gunlance. your a walking tank literally. nothing can move you.

As for quests, like i said, the Monster Hunter quest (final elder quest) will kick your monkey ass.
Rahjan is now always in super sayajin mode, and goes to lvl 3 when he's pissed.
Akantor with the new weapons and armor make him a pushover. Ukanlos will destroy you if your not patient with a good lance or fire hammer.
Basically what im saying is after playing unite, you will laugh at how easy the stuff in freedom 1 is.
