I don't know one person who buys Madden alone and nothing else. Every "sports" fan friend I have that buys Madden end up buying things like GRAW and Fight Night as well.Originally Posted by Geen
Nintendo hasn't really tried anything new when it comes to game interaction and gameplay since the NES days. Everything that's been announced on the Wii so far has been done somewhere before. For example, Wii tennis:Originally Posted by shidoshi
Granted, I'm sure the Wii will implement this sort of thing a lot better, but the basic concept is still nothing new.
Also, all this stuff about getting out of the graphics race and targeting people who don't typically play games, etc., was not a completely volitional decision. Despite continuously turning over profits the last two generations, I'm sure Nintendo is pretty irked that it is no longer the market leader. Nintendo knows it can't win the graphics race, so it's really hoping this whole "market disruption" thing will work.
I've always loved Nintendo's systems and its franchise games, but this whole thing with calling a goose a swan is just mindboggling.

Who gives a shit who comes up with the concept that ultimately fails to live up to it's potential- what matters is who actually comes through with it. Any gamer can sit there and come up with tons of good ideas, but only highly capable people can actually take those ideas and fully realize them.Originally Posted by Nash
are you gonna knock games that have a fully developed virtual reality and citing the shitty VR games of the early 90s?

I don't disagree. All I'm wondering is where all this "Nintendo is so innovative" talk comes from.Originally Posted by Tonic the Drunkhog
The point is that Nintendo is the first to make a general controller for this sort of thing rather than having it be highly specialized. An innovative concept isn't always original every step of the way, in fact that's very rarely the case.Originally Posted by Nash
Maybe they could "pack-in" three free downloads - one NES, one SNES, and one N64?
I still think Zelda would be the best pack-in. It's not like they spent money to develop a Wii game and now are giving it away free. It's a GC game. But the sports titles show off the system whereas Zelda is inferior using the wiimote (from what I read).
No gnus is good gnus.
Nitendo was a good game system back in the day, but now it's like the lowest rating today. I think more games need to be added, but more action games. See Playstation spice up their games with GTA 3 and San Andreas, even Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain. That game was a big hit in 2004.
Thanks to Sony's new attempt to totally fuck up the market, the prospect of the Wii being maxed at $250 is a steal.
Currently playing: AES: Metal Slug 3, Prehistoric Isle 2, Blazing Star, Fatal Fury Special
