Well if this thing isn't a collector's item in the making.
my answer to this is simple. have people simply plug something in.....or have them pull out a drive (even if it were somehow slide rack mounted), disconnect an ide cable and molex plug and swap out the drive? yeah simple but the general public isn't this smart, or careful. this way keeps warrenty costs down.Originally Posted by shidoshi

They could very easily have had a drive that just slides in and out with no other work. Remember something called the PlayStation 2? You bought the hard drive, and you installed it yourself. If was simple, and this could be simple as well.Originally Posted by Dragonmaster Dyne

I am most likely going to pass. HD-DVD doesn't interest me at the moment.Originally Posted by Cowdisease

I wonder if you can just open up the drive take out the HD-DVD player and put it in the 360
Not unless it uses the same nonstandard power cable and contains the firmware code to access game data.
I see more and more HD-DVDs coming out every week, making me want a player more and more every week... I just am not willing to pay $500 for one yet, even if I split it 50/50 with my girlfriend (our plan since we'll get equal use out of it).

It looks fine to me...
exactly what i was thinking. But imagine when HD DVD bombs, MS would release an external BD player...... now that would be funnyOriginally Posted by Raz0r
reminds me of the PS2 external HDD that was released in japan.Originally Posted by Rocca
It will be HD-DVD for 200 bucks for those that already own a 360, if the quality is good and the hardware is more stable then what Toshiba has atm then great.
However, if by the time it comes out there is something close in price that is also stand alone then why bother.
