Thread: Sega Rally Revo

  1. Which version? I've heard that the 360 one runs at 30. I'd check if I wasn't stuck at work.

Is there even a PS3 demo?

  2. It's 30, but it's a lot better 30 than you might be "used to".

  3. If is is running at 30, it's a really fucking nice 30.

I mean I could be wrong, but it runs fucking smooth.

  4. hmph. another hour till work is done. i've been waiting for this too.

  5. Really really dug the demo. I kinda wish it had a bit more arcadey feel to it, but it's great as is.

Took a good ten minutes to understand the feel of the game, and a bit longer until I remembered that the ground is really supposed to be affecting the play. I kept hitting this one turn, performing my breaking just like I did on other turns, but I would spin out every single time on this one.

I finally had a "duh" kind of moment and realized that I was in sand on this particular turn, and it was affecting the grip and control. I was taken aback a bit over that. Game company actually delivering on a promise? NOWAI!

Rally racing can't get much more arcadey than this game. You don't need to handbreak or break at all in this game. Actually, if you do, chances are you won't win.

That being said, I really enjoyed the demo also. It literally took me all of 10 seconds to get a handle on the controls, and after that I was cruisin. Taking 90 degree turns on a dime while passing 3 cars. The terrain deformation is really awesome too. It adds that extra umph that rally games always seemed to be missing. Causing you to adjust your lines based on the deformation, and race based on the terrain you are on as opposed to the car you are driving.

Good work Sega, now lets just hope this one isn't content starved like most other Sega games.

  7. color me impressed. placed first all four races. loved the hell out of it.

  8. Great little demo, surprisingly solid.

  9. I don't know why, but I was underwhelmed.

It just seemed so tame after playing Rallisport Challenge and Colin McRae. The handling was too loose and forgiving imo and not being able to go off the track at all in a rally racing game nowadays is just lololololol. And it's really weird to be racing against other cars head to head in a rally game; even the previous Sega Rally games did not do that.

Whatever; I'll probably rent it soon after it comes out but this comes out the same week as PGR4. -_-

I'd argue with that, but I'd like to hold off comment until I try it out with a steering wheel. Something about arcade racers just don't feel right until I have the wheel in my hands.
