  1. Turbo Ys I&II (and III) on the Wii?
    No gnus is good gnus.

  2. Ys the ark of napishtim is a really great game. i beat it maybe a week or two ago. it was only about 25 hours long. maybe less if you're not trying to do everything. the music is as good as the old games and the action is good. it doesn't play like any zelda game. Ys is more about action than puzzle solving. there are some tricky jumps and certain places where you have to do things in a certain order to get out of a room but that's about it. i say you just start with the ps2 game and work your way to...uh...whatever you can get your hands on.

i don't like the older games much but isn't there a remake of 3 coming out soon? also the psp version of the ark or napishtim has lots of load times. like...too much. so don't play it.

Definitely play them in order- they aren't like Final Fantasy, they have a definite story arc. Go with either the Duo or Eternal versions of I&II, and if you like them (you'll either love or hate, I love) you'll know if you want to continue. They are extremely linear games with very simple gameplay. On the other hand, I&II are not a massive timesink (I played through I completely in a few hours) and that is a good thing - the story is good but terse and functional, think of it as similar myth or fable as opposed to a long, drawn out rpg being analogous to a novel. And they have the best soundtrack ever and great voice acting. (especially the Duo version). III sucks though, and I haven't played VI at all yet.
To boldly go where lots of men have gone before...

Well a friend let me borrow his PSP version, the load times were the worst on the PSP. I think Mignight Club 3 could be the one game worse then it.
I don't know how the load times are on the PS2, but if it is anywhere as close as the PSP version...

As I mentioned above, it's out on PC now. Oath in Felghana. Unless they announce a console version... and even if they do... I don't think it's coming out here. Hopefully we'll hear something more regarding the translation from Nightwolve soon, but from what I hear, the story doesn't stray too much from the original game, so it's not a big deal. Ys III was pretty easy and not very long, but OiF uses the VI engine and is supposedly a much longer and more satisfying game.

The PSP version loading is horrible, yeah, it's not the original game, it's a lazy port. The PS2 version is just fine. For what it's worth, though, I played the PSP version before I got the PS2 one, and I beat it and enjoyed it just fine. It can be done, it's just a little trying at times. In some of the more tedious jumping (grr) parts, you will fall. A lot. And there will be a lot of loading. Just be warned if you do play the PSP version.
