    Hehehe that would be great!

Anyway, I'm mixed on this news. The first two were great flicks, and I love them. The problem is that its impossible to go back into time. Some directors like Zombie try to hit you over the head with the 70's style. To me, it doesn't really work. If you're going to do a movie set in the 70's, great. Trying to mix them both doesn't work in my book. Devils Rejects trys to hit you over the fucking head with the theme. I do like the movie on many levels, but having golden-age horror actors pop up just gets old.

It is impossible for big studios to re-capture the spirit of what makes trash movies like Pieces and Maniac so great. These movies are dumb, sexist movies that feel grimey. They are low budget, and they did all they could with what they had. They were like porn. They lived for the kill(money) shot.

Now horror goes where the money is, and that is remakes. They're safe and they're ruining the genre. I cringe at yet ANOTHER Texas Chainsaw "reimagining" and Evil Dead being redone. The industry has become soulless. Most indie horror movies are no better. Its as if the imagination of the entire new generation of horror directors has dissappeared. Its a shame.

    A good script?

Most classic horror movies didn't get to be that way from terrible beginnings. Great horror films are more than gore and jump shots.

  5. Here is what apparently will be the theme for this.
I'm not a devious man by nature... but when you're unarmed, your tactics might gonna be downright Archimedean.

  6. Casting news ahoy!

The part of Dr. Loomis, made famous by Donald Pleasance, will now be played by Malcolm McDowell.

The part of Michael Myers will be played by Tyler Mane. Yes, Sabretooth himself. Hmm...

Young Mikey will be played by a kid named Daeg Faersch. Young Mikey, according to the casting sheet, likes to kill animals, take pictures, then masturbate over the pictures. Uhh...

    Hmm...interesting.

Unless Zombie is doing something completely different with the character, it's irrelevant who plays Michael Myers. Compared to other slasher movie icons like Jason and Freddy, Myers has zero personality.

    Eeew.

  8. He hates his teenage sister, his stripper mother, and her abusive boyfriend Ronnie.
Wait, what? I hope they don't try to pull something where you sympathize with why Myers wants to kill people-it's way better when he has a completely normal upbringing but he is just simply psychotic-not because he was fucking abused.

  9. Zombie made it really hard to hate the "bad guys" in House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects, too.

He made the Firefly family a lot more likeable than their victims. He gave them all the best lines, too. By the end of Rejects, Zombie had managed to make the mass-murdering Fireflys downright sympathetic and the law enforcement officer that was giving them a rightly-deserved taste of their own medicine look like an evil douchebag. And this was after saying in interviews that he would do his best in Rejects to make the Fireflys scary and unlikable so they'd be more effective villains than they were in the first movie. For all his self-professed love of horror, I'm not sure Zombie knows how to make a truly scary movie with characters you like and a bad guy you hate.

That said, Rob Zombie is a great filmmaker who makes really entertaining movies, and I'll be sure to see the Halloween remake (as much as I despise the constant stream of remakes Hollywood is vomiting out these days) on day one.

As for the info in the casting sheet, I love how several of the female roles has a "FULL NUDITY REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE" disclaimer.

Also, does everyone have to use the "likes to torture/kill small animals" cliché for every single young serial killer? It's like the scriptwriter is patting himself on the back for having read a psychology book or something.

  10. I don't like this in the report that Berringer reported.

"This new movie will not only appeal to horror fans, but to a wider movie-going audience as well."

    FUCK THEM.
