Rob Zombie's Halloween

I'm kinda torn on the script as well. I especially agree with the AICN article on the changes Zombie's making to Myer's past, with him how being a poor abused little boy as opposed to just a boy with a normal upbringing who was pure evil like John Carpenter originally envisioned. Plus the guy talks now?

But Zombie did such a great job on the Devil's Rejects, especially from a visual standpoint, that I'm willing to wait and see. I know I'm known as the guy who hates remakes, and I am disappointed that Zombie is doing one as opposed to an original endeavor, but Devil's Rejects impressed me so much that I'm interested in any project Rob may be working on just to see how he progresses as a director. Who knows, maybe the changes he makes to the Halloween series might end up being pretty cool.

And if he does fuck it up, there's always the original. It's not like it's going anywhere.

Well this is just "his" vision of it. I'd say when this movie's run is finished, they should cut back to the original and see what happened after he was a burnt corpse at the hospital. That part where his eye opened with a loud shriek still gives me shivers.

also its rumored Rob is re-writing his Halloween script.

Bloody-Disgusting.com now has up a handful of rumors surrounding Rob Zombie's Halloween. Here is just one of those rumors that concerns the delaying of production on account of some script problems.

The trouble began last week when AICN posted a slanted script review, which Fangoria posted a completely opposite opinion a few days later. With each post fans found themselves confused, pissed, happy or just plain indifferent (that's me!). But one person who took it very seriously is Writer/Director/Producer Rob Zombie, who wrote on his MySpace blog "I notice that so many people get crazy when someone you don't even know posts an opinion about what they think HALLOWEEN will or won't be. This is crazy. Do you really go through life influenced by the thoughts of others that easily? Anyway, things change so much in a movie, from moment to moment, from second to second that all I can say is : see it for yourself and figure out if you like it or not. Really who gives a fuck what someone else thinks? Everybody likes different shit for different reasons. But deciding that you hate or love something that doesn't even exist yet? Well, that a little ridiculous."

Rumor has been circulating around town that this draft is NOT even close to the draft that was being used for the shoot that was supposed to take place this month in California. Anyways, what we've heard from industry buzz is that after the online fiasco, shock-rocker Rob Zombie is going back to the script and doing more re-writes, thus pushing the shoot back a bit, thus forcing the release back from it's August 31st date. We've called people on all fronts and can't get a straight answer, so I guess only time will tell the truth.

So Rob's idea of how Myers works doesn't sit well with people and he's now trying to re-write some things so it's closer to the original source material. Long as this keeps him from butchering any of the cannon we know about him, I'll stay happy.
