  2. The Hulk movie was fine except for all the stupid, retarded shit with Bruce's daddy. I mean, anything Nick Nolte-related in that movie was just a pure asshole projectile.

    So yeah, that did hurt the movie pretty bad, but it's nothing they have to re-start from scratch. The origin was solid otherwise.

    I agree. Not so much that it's too late, but isn't having an entire movie (or half a movie) based around the origin of these superheroes kind of redundant? That's one of the (many) huge problems with all these recent comic book movies. At least for the household names these characters' basic mythologies are pretty well known by everyone. If they aren't, it's not especially hard to guess. The origin stories aren't especially interesting imo.

  4. Ang Lee did not understand what people wanted to see in a Hulk film. The Hulk never grows to a 20-foot King Kong giant and holds the girl in his hand. That scene alone made Hulk more a CG creation that a real character in the film. I liked a lot of scenes from Hulk but there's too much anxst between Betty & her father and Bruce and his (read: boring!). And then after this 2 hour movie with all the psychological aspects of The Hulk, we get the rather far-fetched Absorbing man fight and the horrible Bruce-in-chair "arghhhhh!" scream (worse than Vader "Nooo!") and the line "..they're absorbing all the ambient energy!" and the weakest green bomb explosion ever. For every good scene there is an equally bad scene next to it, it seems to me.

    I don't know about you guys, but I think the film Hulk should imitate the TV hulk series a bit .. have Banner wander around looking for a cure. Drop the Betty character. Have real suspense during the transformations. The Hulk film transformations were weak; the old ones on the old 80's TV show were far more intense with the high pitch "transformation sound" and his clothes slowly ripping and then super-angry Ferrigno w/white eyes looking right out of the screen and going ARRRRRRGHHHHHH ! ! !

    I still enjoy The Hulk movie though. When he takes out the tanks, runs fast, leaps for miles, etc it is a lot of fun to me. Hulk 2! Can't wait to see it!

    And I agree with pretty much all of Cafeman's post about the first Hulk movie.

    Edward Norton is The Incredible Hulk!

    Edward Norton has been set by Marvel Studios to play Bruce Banner in The Incredible Hulk.

    The Louis Leterrier-directed film will be distributed by Universal Pictures on June 13, 2008. The movie will shoot this summer in Toronto.

    Norton takes over a role played in the Ang Lee-directed Hulk by Eric Bana. Though that film opened strongly, it didn't fare as well as other Marvel efforts, including Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four and, most recently, Ghost Rider.

    Marvel Studios, which has a $525 million credit facility obtained through Merrill Lynch, made The Incredible Hulk its second film under that arrangement, and seeks to make a sequel that is less self-serious and more in line with the comic series and TV show. Leterrier directed the action-filled Transporter and its sequel, as well as Unleashed.

    The new movie begins with Banner on the run, trying to avoid capture long enough to cure the condition that turns him into a misunderstood green menace.

    "Edward Norton is a rare talent and one of the most versatile actors in the business," Marvel Studios production president Kevin Feige said in a statement. "His ability to transform into a particular role makes him the ideal choice to take on the character of Bruce Banner and the Hulk. Edward is perfectly suited to bring one of the most popular and important Marvel icons to the bigscreen in a new and exciting way."

    The script for The Incredible Hulk was written by Zak Penn, who had a hand in crafting two "X-Men" films and Fantastic Four for Marvel.

    The movie is being produced by Avi Arad, Gale Anne Hurd and Marvel's Feige. Jim Van Wyck, David Maisel, Ari Arad and Stan Lee are executive producing.
