Thread: The Science of Sleep

  1. Thank god someone else said it, what a bore fest. I couldn't get past the fact that Stephen was a raging vagina, I hated his guts.

Watch Eternal Sunshine, it's on a totally different plain of existence than this.

  2. I got the DVD for this based on having seen Sunshine. It seemed like he was being obtuse for the hell of it. I can't fucking stand that shit. Terribly pretentious.

    Boo, Hiss.

  3. I don't think there was any pretention. It might have been a bit on the cutesy side.

I liked it. It was sweet, and it made me laugh. But I wouldn't even put it on the same realm as Eternal Sunshine.

Maybe. But Amelie was cute. And never an asshole. Or some weird pathetic creep. Plus, her movie ruled. In fact, wait a minute, how dare you even bring her up in this thread. You soil the name.

  5. I would sex Audrey Tatou.
    Boo, Hiss.

  6. I disliked this movie, it had some nice imagery, but the story was lacking. And oh man, the main character was such a pussy, I really started to hate him.

Maybe pretentious is the wrong word, but it just seemed like one of those "Look how smart of a film I've made" productions.

  8. Er, that's pretty much pretentious... which, yes, this movie most certainly is (among other things).

If you enjoy watching socially retarded people trying obnoxiously to interact with each other on a third-grade level for two hours, this is your dream movie. When that wasn't happening, you were watching the protagonist act like he forgot to take his Ritalin, Robin Williams-style only not remotely funny or witty. It had tiny moments where supporting actors said hilarious things, but they arent worth suffering through the rest of the film for.
    IAWTP.

I don't know that the movie was trying to be smart at all. In fact it relished in child-like whimsy, which is what I liked about it.
