Thread: LOL @ HD-DVD

  1. Those prices are typically for the incredibly gay dual format discs, which house the HD and regular DVD editions on one disc. Most HD-DVD's can be found around the 25 dollar mark, which in turn are 20 dollars on Amazon.

the feeling inside me says movies should never be more than $15. and even that is pushing it. $10 and we have a deal.

My PC doesnt have the horsepower to transcode HD on the fly. Plus if its in WMV-HD you can FF and REW, and you can burn it to a DVD-DL and play it right on the console.

I agree. I'm not moving to HD anytime soon, since I don't have nor want an HDTV (no HD cable at school, and fuck the costs) so I'm perfectly happy with my old, boring DVDs. Format wars are lame.

  7. bold move on their part, only fuels more fire in this war, they should have just gone neutral and let the consumers decide, but hey, instead of buying the cg 2 hour ad called transformers, I'll just go grab pixar flicks on bluray
b_ri on Twitch, Games Beaten in 2020 (3): Pokemon Sword (Sw), Detroit: Becoming Human (PS4), Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (PS4),

Yeah, transcoding does suck in that manner. You can FF and REW, but very slowly. I just use it for the convenience factor when I don't want to use my zboz regs.

  9. I noticed somebody said this means that there will be no Indy 4 on Blu-Ray...but isn't the ENTIRE Indy Triology Paramount? Or at least the first movie is...doesn't the Paramount Mountain Logo fade into a real mountain at the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark? Or were the rights to the original triology sold to a different studio?

  10. I watched Dark Water on Blu-ray the other night. Not only did it force me through about two minutes of previews -- one for the very movie I was about to try to watch fresh (thanks), but it also forced me through the "Would you steal a car? blah blah blah" anti-piracy spiel, for a grand total of at least three solid minutes.

I was suitably outraged. Livid in fact. I'm an honest person, but if I could have pirated the movie right then as revenge, I would have in a hearbeat.
