I enjoyed the movie thoroughly.
It would have been great if at the end Will saw Elizabeth standing there as he sailed up, saw the kid, and immediately turned around.
Or just came to a full stop and sink quickly back under the sea.
I'm not a devious man by nature... but when you're unarmed, your tactics might gonna be downright Archimedean.
My thing about the 10 years at sea...couldn't Elizabeth just go meet him at sea?

I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
I got the impression Jones had been violating his oath for a lot more than ten years. After all, Calypso would have had to have jilted him before he went to the pirate lords and told them how to seal her, and Barbossa said that the last time the council convened was before he and Jack were born. Add in the fact that the binding happened at the FIRST council, while the one we saw was the FOURTH, and you get... an awfully long time... of the Flying Dutchman not doing its job.
But that's immaterial to Will's situation anyway... as we see when the Black Pearl makes it escape from the Locker, when the Dutchman isn't doing its job, the souls simply have to make their own way.
I got the impression he's not allowed to interact with either the living or his just love during that time (not sure which). I'm sure better specifics can be found in part 2 when Will gets captured on the Dutchman, I don't recall the exact dialogue there. If he could interact with his love at all then Davy probably wouldn't have had a problem, as his love was part of the very sea he was riding in. He wouldn't have had to even go to port for her.
It does strike me that Elizabeth could become part of the crew, but I have no idea if there are restrictions about that.
Thanks for the support Finch.
Well Davy Jones didn't have any trouble interacting with the living...and I thought the only reason he had to ferry the dead was because Calypso wasn't there anymore...but I guess not being able to interact with his love makes more sense even though calypso and Davy Jones spoke to each other. Then again that might've been because Davy Jones didn't love her anymore.
