Yeah, the script starts off with a scene of Logan fighting bullies as a kid (yet another cliche) and his bone claws pop out. It's actually not a bad scene.

I liked it better when his past was a mystery. When you build that up for as many years as they did with Wolvie, anything they finally deliver is bound to dissapoint. I just ignore it, personally.

I don't quite remember, but Wolverine's past is so fucked up. By so many different writers it was like reading Crisis of Infinite Earths, but one character. And one who had no past to begin with.

Never got the diary, and it was thrown into the fireplace by some guy who was going through their stuff afterwards. Also they were never enemies until the very end. When the grandfather hired Logan/Dog to track his grandson down and kill him.

Rose called him Logan through his adult life. That is what everyone at the mining camp called him. So he kept it. He didn't remember his real name at all and only remember bits of his past when the real Logan came to the mining camp and tried to kill him. But he never remember his real name.
