Thread: Ridge Racer 2 Coming to PSP

If you want to say, "Out of racing games, I prefer X and Y," that's fine. But PGR and BO existing don't negate the need for a game like RR, nor are they similar enough to be directly comparable.
Do you seriously believe that PGR is not an arcade-style racing game? PGR's racing clearly borrows a lot from the RR series while injecting it with some much needed originality (though Kudos arent too original anymore, I guess). Yes, PGR does render RR worthless nowadays, for as long as Namco chooses to just remake the same game over and over with better graphics.

Are you really gonna be so semantically anal as to say we can't compare one arcade-style racing game (PGR) to another (RR)? That's just nonsense.

You don't, Silent Hill is terrible.

  2. You will never be able to play PGR on PSP though.

I still like RRV, but I'm gonna have to side with you on this one for the time being. R4 was my favorite racing game ever and I thought nothing would ever replace it until I got to play PGR2. That's pretty much the whole story. Too bad that PGR3 and RR6 are apparently both kind of mediocre.

Also, WTFer, no one has ever cared about your opinion. This thread changes nothing.

    confirmed.

  5. $40 Map pack.

I'll still buy it, Ridge Racer's endlessly fun.

    ....

Except for that one with no personality on 360.

But "milking" (as diffx is calling it) a series like Ridge Racer is NOT a bad thing at all. Give us more, Namco.

I couldn't agree less, since this comparison is just nuts. Ridge Racer is a more arcade-like racing series, while PGR is not quite as arcade-like. BO revolves around the wrecks and that sets it apart from the other two.

Out Run 2 would be a better game to compare against Ridge Racer. Even then these two are different experiences- driving through OR2's traffic to make it to the forks and clear checkpoints in time, and fighting a straight-up battle with the pack in Ridge Racer.

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)

Thank you for pointing that out, you asshole

If what Sony say's is true about having 7,000 PSOne games emulated for PSP by the end of 2007 then there definitely won't be a remake.

It took me a while for me to realize they're not from Ridge Racer(s) PSP.

Those look nice. The original is still one of the best looking PSP games, so I'm not surprised they aren't a huge leap. Namco typically does a pretty good job with utilizing new hardware (360 intentionally exluded IMO).
