Otoo Keigou? WTF?
It says oto o tsunagou (let's connect sound!)
Got the PSP version and played it some last night.
It's cool. Very stylish. Music is good. The same "music is added by the player's actions" thing we've seen in Lumines, Meteos, Rez, etc. is here as well. In fact, the whole thing feels *very* similar to Lumines what with the changing skins and songs as you progress. It's hard as hell, though. Much harder than Lumines.

No wai. It says, "Yossi Eyeland, Desu Ne? ^__^"
Donk
I am really feeling this puzzler. It's my favorite in a long, long while. The shapes stay in my head when I close my eyes like twelve hours after I've played it. I find it significantly more fun than Lumines (although, it should be noted that I never really saw the big deal with Lumines in the first place).
But geez, it's hard. You will die in like ten seconds on the faster songs if you're not constantly making combos. And, like Lumines, you have to start at the beginning and work your way alllllllllllll the way back to where you were every time you die. There are 40 skins, and it takes me about 40 minutes to get to the seventh one (where I always die), if that gives you an idea of the time commitment required here. Thank god for the PSP's sleep function.
Very difficult indeed. I usually play puzzler to relax/zone out but this game makes me concentrate.... I need to practice more to get better, that's for sure.
It gets seriously frantic fairly early on. I start to sweat from the fear.
This is pretty hectic, yeah. I like it. I'll be damned if I can even get the fifth or sixth skin, though.
Is this significantly different than the 'Swan version? Or should I just stick with Gunpey EX?
I just played at lunch. Got to Skin 9, then promptly died. It took me 38 minutes.
I never played the WonderSwan version, but this one has a "Break" mode where pieces fall down to fill in the spaces when you clear a set. I only played "Original" once, which I assume is the same as the WS version (where pieces never fall down), and found it even more unforgiving.
One thing I'm kinda not into, but I guess it's the nature of the game, is that a good 70% of my movements are "damage control". That is, I'm constantly shifting pieces down just to keep them from getting close to the top. Even if I get really good, I still don't see this aspect of the game ever really going away. Is anyone playing the DS version? I'm wondering if you can slide pieces down several tiles in one motion with the stylus.
Also, there's a short period when a set disappears, where you can't make any moves. This is no doubt by design, but I still don't like it. Also (lots of complaining, I know, but I really do like the game overall), maybe I've gotten spoiled and greedy, but the game is very "bare bones". Nothing to unlock outside the skins, and the extra modes are pretty worthless as far as I can tell. They could've at least included a puzzle mode like in Lumines.
