  1. When was Kensei described as a barbarian? But yes, there were a lot of terms that Japanese used for foreigners that roughly translate as barbarian.

    Comic-Con undoubtedly will see even more Heroes-related announcements. However, plenty of news — and probably spoilers, so be warned! — has already trickled out of the summer press tours in Los Angeles:

    • Leonard Roberts, who plays D.L., was conspicuously absent from a Television Critics Association-sponsored press event. Although series creator Tim Kring cautioned reporters not to read anything into that, TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello points out that this was the second press conference this summer at which Roberts was missing. He’s also not in any of the press materials. Casting decision, or clever misdirection?

    • Actress Lyndsy Fonseca, who played Claire’s lesbian-cheerleader friend April, has been dropped from the show after becoming a series regular on Desperate Housewives.

    • With Season Two, Heroes goes global — well, at least beyond the United States, Japan and India — as scenes take place in Haiti, Ireland, The Ukraine, Mexico and Egypt, among other locations. During a tour of an Irish pub set, Masi Oka joked, “This is where Hiro goes back in time and saves The Black Donnellys.”
    And there will be preview clips of the Heroes HDDVD on marketplace sometime before the HDDVDs come out.
