Today I watched this fine film. A co-worker brought to me, since I've never heard of it and it sounded interesting. I was mostly captivated by the music, I absolutely loved it, especially the score at the beginning when they are trudging through the mountains. All the music is very haunting, except for the indian playing his instrument which is strangely upbeat. It's weird this Indian guy plays this happy flute music while Aguirre's men are under attack.

Klaus Kinski is amazing as the lead character. I know that Apocalypse Now is based off the book Heart of Darkness, but I would be certain that AN was partially inspired by this movie also. I made this thread because I have to recommend Aguirre:The Wrath of God to anyone who's interested in a very dark story involving a power hungry would be conqueror. Great movie.
