A few years ago, I asked Nick to delete me

Has anyone still on board ever had similar desires to cut their ties with good 'ol TNL? I know that many have come and gone over the years; many of them what I would consider pretty prominent members, or at least, well-known.

I guess my own reason for trying to get away from TNL is that I associate the internet with it. I always 1.) open browser, 2.) open TNL. No matter what I'm working on, it's in the background. I suppose that the whole issue is that of lost productivity. In order to do homework, I actually have to be in a different room than my computer, so that I won't be like "hey I wonder what new topics have come up in the last two and a half minutes." I don't even feel like I share the core interest of gaming anymore; but it seems like many others do not either.

I can't be the only one in this situation. I know that I've noticed extensive absenses of people, but they all seem to come back. (Josh, Andyrose, Haoh, etc., but don't see this as calling you guys out.)

  2. People go through phases when they feel like they're wasting their life and need to motivate themselves to accomplish something. They go away for a while and then realize every single person on the planet wastes time in their own ways, and talking about random shit on an Internet forum isn't that bad of a way to do that.

That's about right. I've been there, so I've "quit" TNL before, but then you realize that you waste time in some form and figure not visiting TNL simply equals wasting time elsewhere.

In other words "what he said".

    TNL for life.

If you're actually able to leave, you never should have been here in the first place.

  5. I think about getting myself banned so I can study more for exams every semester.

  6. bitter place lately, man, everyone is dogging tnl. i pop on when i'm bored, it serves its purpose.

  7. GG! and TNL were always about bitterness and being jaded. I've never left but I've gone into extended lurk mode a few times. It's not all that different now than it's been in the past, save for more off topic discussion and less game discussion.

  8. I requested a several month ban a while back because of a bet I lost (against the Halo 2 God!!!), and it was rough at first, but I eventually found other stuff to keep me busy.

Once my ban was over, I didn't really even care to get back on, but curiosity soon took over and I found myself skimming over the boards now and then to what eventually led to me posting again.

    TNL is A-OK.

    This is uncalled for.

I've considered it. Some people get a tad too much joy from busting my balls over trivialities.

Normally that is ok, and sometimes even fun but when more than a couple people get in on it, TNL quickly becomes not very enjoyable.

Just so you can all relate, it’s kind of like if you had one friend that sent you pics of fat naked men fucking. You'd be all "lol, you ass." But then one day all your friends did it, and your teachers, and coworkers did it too. Just gay man porn everywhere. Then the next day fat naked men all started to hump around you. It wouldn’t be funny then, it would be maddening.

Having said that however, I will never leave. Well assuming I don't get a perm ban.
