Thread: NFL 2006 Season

  1. They're missing what, 9 players that game? 6 of them defensive? That's a huge fucking blow, one or two people can be replaced, but when you can't substitute it's going to hit your defense hard. I'm not saying the Bears are overrated, it's just the Giants are missing more keyplayers than any team I can think of, and still doin at least alright. But it would have been a closer game had that team not been missing even half the amount of players it had.

Dude, every team has 3 or 4 guys out at any given time. When practically your entire starting defence is out, that goes a bit beyond an excuse. Chicago hasn't faced anything close to this.

When Urlacher and both starting DEs (and one backup) have to sit in addition to Brown and [insert 2 LBs here], Muhsin Muhammad is out for the season, your fullback and left tackle are hurt, your best WR is gimpy, your HB has a busted hand and your kick returner can't play, then you can make comparisons.

The team literally has only 2 DEs and 4 LBs left on the roster; guys are out of position all over. They still have Pierce and Robbins up front so they can handle bad teams, but would I lay money on them to beat serious competition right now? Nuh-uh.

That said, Eli sucked tonight, even for playing a good defence.

  3. I don't hear Seattle pissing and moaning about not having Hasselbeck and Alexander. No, they just go out there and keep winning. I don't hear San Diego whining about losing a quarter of their defense to injury and suspension. They suck it up and keep trying to win. But I'm sure the Eastern Seaboard Programming Network will focus on how the Giants were taken advantage of and how this win really doesn't count for the Bears.

If you guys are this intent on making excuses for your myriad of injuries, get ready to defend the Giants after every game here on out for the rest of this season.

Against shitty Oakland and mediocre St. Louis. Very impressive.

They also got smashed by the Bears without Alexander and I guarantee there were people in Seattle making excuses after that happened.

Losing your best defensive player to a steroid suspension isn't something you complain about. It was his own stupid fault for getting caught.

And I think him and Castillo were the only two players on defense who missed time this week. Two players out is not a big deal like was said above.

I'm not a Giants fan. But they were missing Strahan, Umenyoria, Arrington, Short, Emmons, Toomer, and lost Petitgout and Madison during the game. That's a lot of dudes. When over half your starting defense goes down you're allowed to bitch at least a little about injuries.

Of course it was rehearsed. It's a trick play. College teams use it all the time. It's pretty rare in the NFL though.

  5. I"m not even a Giants fan, I'm just pointing out that this would have been a closer game had the incredible circumstances plauging the Giants not been so.

Also, no one was making excuses, I personally think the Bears still would have won, just the numbers at the end of the game probably would have been a lot closer.

This tells me whether you watched the game or not, in this case the answer being the latter.

Yeah, it wasn't on here, but Buffalo's defense should not be able to hold Indy's offense to 17 under any circumstances other than a fucking blizzard. Indy's due is coming soon.

Oh come on. The Bears may even have won against a completely healthy Giants team, but saying it's just an "excuse" and they should "suck it up" when you have 5 starters and two backups on defence out and another 3 starters out on offence is a bit much. San Diego and Seattle aren't even close to that situation.

  9. Gooch you are so clueless, Holmgren has bitched about losing Has/Ale in press conferences, and do you honestly think they would of lost to Min/Kan City if they had both of them?

And yes the Giants are probably going to lose the division to either the Boys or Eagles, it's pretty obvious now.

  10. I would hardly say anything is obvious.
