Thread: NFL 2006 Season

  1. I'm hoping Giants beat Ten, and Cowboys win, because that'll be a really good game if title of leader of the division comes from that game. (Want the Cowboys to win)

  2. Double coverage is no reason to never throw to a guy for half the game though - Shockey's been getting balls other guys can't get to his whole career. And keeping Barber in to block doesn't explain why the team only had 14 rushes (one of which was a QB scramble) in a close game on the road. Manning was awful tonight and has been for the past 5 games, I don't get why they kept going to that well and 3-and-outing over and over again, rather than trying to establish the run to open up the field.

  3. Yeah, Coughlin acknowledged that in the press conference saying "We should have tried to run the ball alot more than we did, and ultimately we threw the ball a lot more than we should have."

Cause Huff's a moron, refusing to adjust the gameplan at all (I don't think the giants have a single 3-step drop pass pattern in the book).

  5. They usually 7-step, PA or roll Eli right, I'm okay with that. The line's much more effective pass blocking for him when he steps up in the larger pocket from the 7 step - he seems to like to go through at least 2 progressions before throwing.

But I'm glad Coughlin realizes they should have run more, because that's just fundamental.

I do have to give credit where it's due though - that one play where 2 defenders had Garrard wrapped and he just shrugged them off was awesome. I don't think he's an amazing quarterback, but you can definitely win with a guy like that.

  6. He's certainly good enough to get the Job done, and I enjoyed watching him play a lot more than I did watching Leftwhich.

The Giants' running game wasn't happening. Besides, Jacksonville has one of the best rushing defenses in the league.

If they had used Brandon Jacobs more in the running game, it might have been a little different. His bruising running style could have made a difference; though his 3 runs didn't generate any yards.

How the heck would they know? They only ran 8 times all game until the 4th quarter, when it was already too late. Barber had a 9 yard run in the second, and that was the last time he saw the ball until the end of the game.

And Barber was leading the league in rushing going into that game. It makes no sense to leave him on the shelf like that unless he's hurt, and if that's the case give Jacobs the carries. Having your QB throw 41 times on the road when he's playing like crap and completing 48% of his passes is a recipe for disaster.

I agree, they should have worn out the D pounding him in the middle, or at least used him enough to keep the LBs honest and not draped all over Burress and Shockey. Manning's pretty good at play action, but it's worthless if you're never running. Like you said Jacobs had 3 carries, and at least one of them was an off tackle; he's a pure north-south runner imo.

Bad playcalling, bad quarterback play sank them.

  9. Vikings suck. =[

Just curious, would you guys take LT or LJ?

  10. #1170
LT, and it's not even remotely close.
