Seconded. We get people dropping off 10+ rolls at a time and they give the kids the cameras and they end up looking like shit (blurry, dark, etc.)

I've slept in a many an inflatable bed, and the best one I've seen lately is one that is sold at CostCo. It's not necessarily an inflatable bed, but more of a foam matress bed that lays on the floor. Most comfortable I've ever slept in. Only costs $30 too.
You don't have to be smart; you don't have to know the facts, you just have to be confident.

We have the money for it though, we will be able to pay it right off thanks to reenlistment bonuses. Where are you guys registering, I might send something your way!
It costs a lot of money to feed 200 people.

It also costs a lot to serve drinks to that many people. My cousin's wedding had an open bar for about 80-100 people, and they spent about $1k on drinks alone.

My sister's wedding, which was earlier this year, had the same amount of people and beer/wine, but the location did not have beer on tap, so we had to supply our own. I'm guessing that my dad bought about $500 in beer and wine, and he probably still had four or five bottles of wine and the same number of cases of beer left over at the end of the night.

Not if I make it a potluck! Air Force people are good for that kinda thing.

A potluck! That's genius! I need to run that past my fiancee and see what she thinks.

  7. I don't understand why you guys think you need to refinance your house to have a good wedding. I got married in '99 and had:

    - full Catholic ceremony at a cathedral
    - full reception with 105 guests, two-course meal with two different menu selections, dessert, professional photographer, and DJ.
    - Rings, wedding package (tux, dress, decorations, invitations)
    - Air-conditioned club with tables, chairs, china, and waiters.

    Total: $5200

Mind you, we did this while my wife was finishing her BA and I my MA. Four years later we own our own home, and the wedding's completely paid off.

If weddings in the U.S. cost what you guys are saying, I don't know how the hell anyone gets married there. Fuck that.

I think it usually starts with a modest budget, but oftentimes the bride-to-be runs wild and buys a lot of really stupid shit. It really doesn't help that there are shows like "Bridezillas" which condone this behavior.

  10. What Diff said. We did that but my wife's parents insisted on a wedding. So I made a deal, they will pay for it, and we will try to recuperate the wedding from money gifts. We got lucky and the $$ covered the wedding. But it is a chinese banquet wedding so it is much much cheaper than a traditional wedding with church+reception party afterwards.
