Honestly, regardless of what you think of Batman '89.. we've already seen a "grand-scale" story with the Joker, and I'm not looking forward to 'the same thing, only better.' I'd much rather see a scaled down story if Joker is the main villain.. more like a serial murder mystery than the usual 'save the city/world' plot that every superhero movie suffers from.

That's what I think the Justice League and Avengers movies should be like, only more in the style of Alex Ross rather than Frank Miller.

I still think it's the best Batman movie, aside from Michael Keaton looking a little too scrawny when not wearing his rubber-muscled Batsuit.
