I love how you're so ready to educate. So what you're saying is that something that is widely known to be desirable may come with a higher price than something obscure? And even pawnshops and frat boys are in on it? Interesting. I may have to research this phenomenon further.
That one post had so much concentrated bitterness that I'm still reeling from it. Pawnshops, fratboys, Marshalls. What hideous atrocities could they have they perpetrated to turn Iron Plant into the twisted creature we see posting at TNL today?
Dude. Don't even answer that please. It wasn't a real question. I don't need explanation.
Dude, everyone knows you have to go to college to develop good taste in amplifiers. You've got magic powers or something.
buttcheeks, I have no problem with what you're saying (that it's good to have an appreciation for budget gear, because it's not all bad), just the way you're saying it. Your first post in particular comes off as pretty elitist ("I'm not one of the unwashed masses with their Marshalls and Mesa Boogies"). If you can get a great sound without spending a lot of money more power to you. I spent $700 on my JCM2000 and I'm not stupid for doing so. This amp sounds perfect.
1) it was a little elitist. I hate spring breakers/frat boys. Sure, there are exceptions, but many of them are stupid shollow people that do shit because everyone else is doing it. They're the kind of people that buy fender and marshall stuff because of the name and not the sound and because of that, everyone else has to pay more for the shit because they've hyped the demand up. Maybe I'm a sack of shit for thinking like that, but whatever. I hate spring breakers and no amount of internet owning are arguing on the internet is going to change how I feel.
2) I never implied that all people that owned marshall's were bad. Just because all apples are red, green or yellow, doesn't make all red, green or yellow things, apples. Don't be so open to be offended. Grow some balls and assume I'm not talking about you cause you are too awesome to be in the group of people I describe.
I bought a Mosrite for the name and not the sound. Want to make something of it?
didn't you save money by NOT paying extra to get the version from japan that has the name on the headstock?
Well suit yourself of course. I have friends from pretty much every clique and the frat kids aren't all bad. They want to fit in and be liked and I get that. I prefer to cultivate friendships that don't require wearing Abercrombie and Fitch, conformity, and excessive drinking, but hey. Different strokes.1) it was a little elitist. Sir, yes, sir! But uh...thanks. I think.2) I never implied that all people that owned marshall's were bad. I'd love to find an old Gretsch in a pawn shop on the cheap. I don't even care how they sound if they look like these:
