Thread: Music Gear Discussion

I actually want cheeks to build us lots of gear in shiny metal cases with "buttcheeks" stenciled on it.

This thing doesn't belong to me so I hesitate to do any modification to it unless I know exactly what I'm doing (soldering and the such is no problem, I just can't break this thing). There is already a pot installed in it that supposedly was supposed to be the gain control, but it does nothing. I'll get some pics of the unit when I go to the studio today. Any suggestions would be wonderful.
    get me a schematic

and what are you wanting to pay?

I still haven't gotten an address on where to send an ohm meter. You need to get that ironed out before you put a power sponge on it.

btw, anyone want a power sponge for anything under 30 watts? I can knock those out really easy.

I'm having to rethink what I want to do for josh. The parts I was going to use only have a tolerance of 30 watts. =/

  6. I'll post some pics later tonight when I get home. I think they will answer all of your questions. It's a basic layout really.

  7. Problem solved, at least for the moment. I found several inline XLR attenuators (a couple -20db and a couple -10db) and they did the trick. Still no input gain pot but until I feel like paying someone to do that this will suffice. Here is a crappy pic of it. This is with the actual console preamp unit pulled out of the box and laid on it's side. When I get a chance I'll draw up a little schematic so that perhaps someone can tell me how to wire up an input gain pot.

  9. SO I got that busted up Peavey and it's going to the tech on Wednesday for a diagnosis. Near as I can tell some resistors (transistors? I don't know which) are missing from the pcbs and one of the ribbons was cut. Other than that it looks like it just needs the pcbs mounted back together and have some new tubes put in.

    Fingers crossed.

He recapped and replaced some other things in my Kustom Charger for $97 - not too bad.
    Boo, Hiss.

  10. Man I wish I wouldn't have got sidetracked last night with Yeller Dog's tiity twister shit. I've been meaning to talk about Josh's gear and now I have no time again. While I'm here though I'll post a pic of something rad:

Got it on the cheap from some crazy nerdy dude on CL. His monster cable scene would've made Opaque proud.
