I hear bbobb is working with the japanese to develop a fuzzmuff.
Distortion so hairy you'll be pickin' it out of your teeth when your through!
bbobbs mum is working on a big muff.
Bill The Amp Tech told me he can't say for sure until he gets the drawings and tests everything but he doesn't think it'll cost more than $100-$150 top (including tubes).
I'd send you the boards BC but what I save in parts I'd probably spend in postage. Good looking out though.
Boo, Hiss.
let me know if you have any trouble getting a schem or parts.
I have that problem with the cheapie 490T or whatever pickups that come stock in the Flying V, SG, and LP Studios. It's either too muddy or ice picky. I'm gonna put DiMarzio Virtual PAF's in my SG when I have mo money.
Pa, the GI will be mine...someday. I haven't fixed the Sgun but you're right, that must be way less complicated than building an amp so that might not be showing up at your door after all...
I suggest trading your Standard for an SG Classic or one of the $700 type SG Juniors that just got discontinued. That way you get P90's without having to rout. Dunno how you feel about the standard Gibson type versus the P94's though.
Fender overdrive is good on their smaller amps, like the 5e3 Deluxe or the Champ. In fact that's about all those two are good for. I'm trying to get rid of my Bassman though. The cab is too big and distortion pedals aren't any match for my Marshall, unless it's like fuzz or something an amp can't do but in that case you just use the clean channel on the Marshall
I've fallen back in love with my baritone guitar.
I have this strange 5-string baritone tuned in fifths that Schecter made back in 99. They marketed it as a NU METAL guitar and it failed as one, but I bought it because it had a stock low-A and I hate 7 strings ( I play sludge stuff in a band setting usually). I've got it dropped down a few steps but kept in the fifths tuning and it's just bowel shaking. And the alternate tuning makes for new and interesting chords/voicings. It's also great for industrial sounding stuff and, surprisingly, black metal. It's one of those things I can't play in a band with a bassist though since transposing doesn't really work very easily and no one wants to work on 'new math' at band practice - so it usually falls by the wayside. However, I've got a project going with a friend doing drums and we're just not going to have a bass - I also play with a Meat Box so that takes care of the lows. Problem is he lives in Florida so we can't exactly practice in a normal sense. We're doing the file trading thing until he comes up to Asheville early next year for an ep recording session.
In other news: any of you ever try hooking a pedal up between the amp out and the speaker cab? Is there any reason this would not work well? I'm running 2 amps with an ABY and I'd like to hook a 2x15 extension cab up to one but only have the Meat Box coming through that cab...
