This is disgusting and despicable. If its affecting Americans like this how is it affecting the Iraqis "we are supposed to be helping"? This shit's all over the place there.

Did we learn nothing from Agent Orange? How many fucking tanks do the insurgents have that need to be cut down? This is a war crime.

Old news, there was alot noise about this from the Peace movement types (which I hung with back in 2003) about DU weapons in the upcomming mobilization.

Infact there are tank graveyards in Iraq from the first Gulf War that still haven't been cleaned up. They're DU contaminated due to the shells used on them. Biggest hazard from DU however is DU dust, which when inhaled can do serious damage to the internal organs as they cannot deal with the effects like the skin can.

DU outside the body: not so bad. Inside via dust from exploded DU shells, or used DU tank armor, very very bad. Because outside, you can get away from it, once inside the body cannot deal with it and it accumilates in the internal organs and while the radiation is realitively low, its constant and intense on the site the dust is at. Ie a DU shell in the same room as you for a week isn't going to do much harm. A bit of DU dust traped in the lungs however...
