Microsoft to introduce "consumables"; new type of microtransaction

Microsoft mentioned a new kind of microtransaction at the session, as well, which they are calling "consumables." These purchases would be re-purchasable items i.e. if a game was selling 100 gold pieces, you would be able to rebuy 100 gold pieces when you needed them. The "consumables" tech will be included in this fall's release of the SDK.

If this is kept out of cometitive online games as well as mmo's I think it's a great idea. It'll help MS make money, which translates into better services for us. It also means I have the option of getting stuff quicker in games if it's worth the money to me.

What is will do is allow lazy people to buy super powered cars/wombats/paladins without having gone through the game to obtain such status. It will unbalance the games and keep the real players out.
